Short Term Absence

From time to time, our students may encounter a situation where they must remain at home while their classmates are in the classroom or the entire classroom must quarantine for 1-5 days.  During these times, students may elect to work on any of the following enrichment activities below.  In addition, students may explore activities from the "Explore" section of this website.  All logins and passwords can be accessed from the following locations: Google Classroom (located in both Teacher and Specialty classrooms) and Class Tag (see communication from Michelle Fojtik).

Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3)

Reading

Login to Raz-Kids and continue reading books on your level.  When you finish, be sure to answer the quiz questions.   Students are also using Epic School, a reading platform specifically designed and curated for educators to support student learning during school hours—Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 4 pm local time.

Word Study

On the ABCYA website, click on students' current grade level.  Practice word study games in the top section of the website under the "Word Games" heading.  Early readers may elect to start with Alphabetical Order, Alphabats: Rhyming Words, and ABC Magnets (use words from your current spelling list).

Math

Login to Xtra Math or Prodigy Math to practice math skills.  Students may elect to complete any of the math games on ABCYA.com or PBS Kids.

Cultural

Visit MetKids and click on "Hop in the Time Machine."  Enter parameters of your choice to discover an object in the museum's collection.  Most items will have option to listen and learn about the artifact and directions for completing a small creative project inspired by the artifact.

Research

Complete the "Who Am I?" activity for an animal of your choice using the Pebble Go Database.   For more information, students may visit World Book Online or DK Find out.

Art

Learn how to draw an object of your choice by watching one of the Art Hub for Kids video drawing lessons.

Technology

Practice your typing using the Typetastic website.   Some students prefer using Typing Club and may elect to use this website instead.

Upper Elementary (Grades 4-6)

Students should check-in with their classroom teachers.  Many of their assignments can be completed in realtime using Google Classroom.  In addition to Google Classroom, students may complete assignments from the "Explore" section of this website.

Passwords

Many of our electronic resources require usernames and passwords.  A digital copy of our school's logins and passwords has been shared with our students in their Google Classroom accounts in both their classroom and specialty teachers' classrooms.  A direct link should also be included with the directions for this assignment.
