Technology Guidelines and Policies

Official guidelines and policies for digital and remote learning are available for viewing in the parent handbook on the RMS website.  At the beginning of the school year, the Chromebook Agreement Letter and Acceptable Use Policy were discussed with students through technology class.   Parents signed and returned these documents at the beginning of the school year.

Google Workspace for Education

Our school uses Google Workspace for Education as its digital learning platform for students in grades 1-8.  Google Classroom serves as the primary way teachers can communicate and share documents with their students.

Emergency Remote Learning

Although we are not currently utilizing a remote learning environment, our school has established the following guidelines to be used should the need arise. Teachers will use Google Meet to host virtual meetings with their students.  Each teacher will have a Work Cycle Google Meeting where students can work independently in a space that is monitored by a teacher or assistant.  Teachers will also use Google Meet breakout rooms to host small group lessons.  A weekly calendar will list a schedule for all students that shows when their small group meetings will occur.  Students who are not in a small group meeting are expected to remain in the Work Cycle Google Meeting to give students and teachers an opportunity to interact with each other throughout the day.

Third Party Tools and Services.

Besides G Suite, we also maintain a list of resources teachers may elect to use with their students.  Many of these websites use Google's SSO (Single Sign On), which makes it easier for students to complete assignments within the Google Classroom framework.  The only personal student information stored and shared within our Google Workspace for Education platform are students first names, last names, and grade level.  Other logins and passwords for these resources are shared with parents through ParentSquare at the beginning of the school year as well as inside students' Google classrooms.
